Mineral and Petroleum Resources launches South African National Petroleum Company, 23 May

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) and the Central Energy Fund (CEF) invite members of the media to the official launch of the South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC). This event marks the operational commencement of SANPC, the new state-owned entity formed through the integration of iGas, PetroSA, and the Strategic Fuel Fund.

The creation of SANPC is a strategic move to enhance South Africa’s energy security, reduce dependence on imported petroleum products, and ensure more effective management of the country’s petroleum assets.

The event will be officiated by the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Mr. Gwede Mantashe, who will be joined by SANPC Interim CEO, Mr. Godfrey Moagi, members of the SANPC Board, executives from CEF, and senior managers from the DMPR. Together, they will outline the mandate, governance structure, and strategic direction of SANPC.
